Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) being my first working place remained specially attractive to me since 1982 due to its natural beauties and cultural heritage. Since then, whenever I went to any tourist spots around the world I use to specially observe those spots and always use to think how to improve the tourism facilities of CHT. During my visit to Shanghai in Oct 2009 I came to know from local Chinese friends about the simple natural tourist facilities of Wen Zhou, about 400 Km away from Shanghai, geographical features of which have similarities with our CHT. So, to experience by myself, I thought of going there by road. After about four plus hours nonstop car driving we reached the city of Wen Zhou. This paper, or in my term the pictorial case study of Shimentai, would express what all of that tourist spot attracted me and how such tourist facilities may be implemented in our CHT. The case study of Shimentai is mainly based on photos which I took during the visit and as such readers are requested to relate all photos while reading.

Pondering over the decision pursuing my undergrad in China I took three years back, reminds me how confused I was when I got the Chinese scholarship. Since China is not particularly well-known among the people who want to study abroad, I was in a fix whether or not i should go for it. The Immigration officer while checking my passport at the airport put it into word in a more explicit way, "People also go to China to study?"

August the first is one of the governmental holidays in China to celebrate her People’s Liberation Army Day, in short PLA or Army Day. The day is set aside to commemorate the contribution that the PLA has made to China both in the past and in the present days. Chinese leaders and public figures go to veterans' homes to show their great concern for them, and get-togethers are held for the soldiers on this day. In some places, soldiers and their dependents are rewarded with the opportunity to visit tourist attractions for free while some are also presented with beneficial books to mark the occasion.

Tourism, in Bangladesh though could not yet flourished as one of the largest industries which other wise have happened in many countries worldwide, however, due to many positive factors the potentiality of tourism in Bangladesh would be increased in many folds in coming years. Bangladesh, like many other countries, despite having limitations is trying best to improve its tourism industry. Last year the country passed a law by the parliament under the title ‘Bangladesh Parjatan Board Act-2010’ and the said board has already started functioning to promote the tourism in Bangladesh.
